16 first-year undergraduate students of CNEE were invited by Feng Chia University (FCU) to Taiwan for their summer practical training course. The student team was led by Dr. Liu Nan, Head of Teaching Office of CNEE. The delegation arrived in Taiwan on Aug.10th, and was warmly welcomed by the teachers and students from Feng Chia University at Taoyuan International Airport.
The internship team was taught by teachers from Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, FCU. Student participating in this training program can replace the credits of Recognition Practice course which will be given in the first year. During this program, students were taught academic knowledge related to environmental science and engineering, hydrology and geohydrology. They were taken to visit waste incineration plant, sewage treatment plant, and other field practice sites and studied relevant knowledge. In spare time, the team also visited natural scenery in Taiwan and experienced folk culture.
The universal education of environmental knowledge in Taiwan has left a deep impression on the participating students. Environmental protection and water resource utilization are crucial topics that human beings facing in this century. It is undoubtedly that this ten days learning can expand students’ horizons and give them further thinking on their major.
