The CNEE visiting group which is composed of 31 senior undergraduates and postgraduates and doctoral students from four different departments went to Singapore for an 8-day learning and communication activity on Oct. 28th, 2019. During these eight days, the group visited the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and was given lectures by professors from NUS and NTU.
Beside the learning activities in NUS and NTU, students visited NEWater, which is a science popularization centre that introduces water reuse and sustainable water management knowledge to the public. They also visited Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI) and Sustainable Singapore Gallery to get a deep understanding on the production, teaching, research and application aspects of environment and water resource in Singapore.
The advanced water treatment technique and other applications in environment and water resource have left a deep impression on the participating students. Singapore takes the lead in the world in combination on theoretical knowledge and application. Through the communication with doctoral students in NUS and NTU,students had some insight into the frontier hot spots of environment and water resource subjects. This study tour cultivated divergent thinking of students, opened their mind and expended their horizons.
