● Development of hot dry rock geothermal and deep hydrothermal resources
● Modeling and Optimization of ocean gas hydrate production
● CO2 geological sequestration and utilization
Achievements Outline
Tianfu Xu has been working on developing new approaches to model multiphase non-isothermal fluid flow and geochemical transport in unsaturated and saturated porous medium and fractured rock systems. Tianfu has authored and co-authored about 90 peer-reviewed journal papers. His papers have been cited by other researchers more than 6000 times (SCI citation). He has been successively selected as the “most cited Chinese researcher” in 2014-2019. He is one of those who pioneered numerical modeling studies on subsurface multiphase reactive fluid flow and geochemical transport, mineral trapping and chemical aspects of CO2 geological sequestration, and mineral scaling and control mineral dissolution and precipitation in geothermal reservoirs.
