Experimental Teaching Center


In order to further enhance the quality of undergraduate experimental teaching and the construction of double first-class undergraduate majors, and promote the integration and sharing of high-quality teaching resources, the College of New Energy and Environment of Jilin University established an experimental teaching center on the basis of the existing “Provincial Experimental Teaching Center for Hydraulic Engineering and Groundwater” and “Provincial Experimental Teaching Center for Environmental Science and Engineering” in April 2019. The goal is to build the center intoa first-class national undergraduate experimental teaching center with inter-specialty, resource sharing, distinctive features, high-level, advanced, and demonstrative service teaching in the resource-environment-new energy field, playing an exempleand leading role in the Northeast region.

The experimental teaching center has built multiple equipment test rooms such as gas chromatography analysis room, liquid chromatography analysis room, atomic absorption emission spectrum analysis room. There are more than 30 professional basic laboratoriesanalytical chemistry, pollution remediation, environmental biotechnology, environmental isotope, numerical simulation, etc. with a total area of 3,200 square meters. There are more than 1,200 instruments and equipment, with a total value of about 19 million yuan. The main experimental equipment includes water isotope analyzer, low-background liquid scintillation counter, inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometer, nanoparticle analyzer, atomic absorption spectrometer, gas chromatograph, liquid chromatograph, UV spectrophotometer, X-ray fluorescence analyzer and other large instruments and equipment. There are 13 experimental techniciansundertaking 34 experimental courses and 185 experimental projects in 5 majors of environmental science, environmental engineering, hydrology and water resources, groundwater science and engineering, and new energy science and engineering.

Currently, the collegewhere the center is based has constructed 1 national quality course, 3 provincial quality courses, and 2 provincial experimental teaching centers; won 1 first prize in provincial and ministerial teaching achievements, 1 provincial and ministerial teaching achievement award, 6 school-level teaching achievement awards and 2 experimental technology achievement awards. It has edited and published 7 textbooks and published 32 teaching research papers. The practical ability and innovation ability of students have been significantly improved, which has been demonstrated in the fact the undergraduates have undertaken 150 experimental innovation projects, including 37 national-level and 43 provincial-level, 11 research papers (including 10 SCI index and 1 EI index), 21 inventions and patents. 130 students have participatedin the National Undergraduate Life Science Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the National Undergraduate Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Social Practice and Technology Competition, the National Undergraduate Hydraulics Innovation Design Competition, the Jilin Province Undergraduate Environmental Innovation and Technology Competition, the Jilin Province Undergraduate Biological Experiment Skills Competition, and the Jilin Province Undergraduate Surveying and Mapping Skills Competition, etc., winning a total of 65 awards.
